Normally the Cuban, Dominican Republic and Haitian passports are delivered the next working day. Citizens of other countries who live in Cuba, DR or Haiti must submit a photocopy of their residence permit. In the case of citizens of countries other than Cuba, DR and Haiti, a reference is to be made, for which additional fee of US $ 10/- (or CUC 10/-, if applying directly at the Consular Section of the Embassy) plus the visa fee is charged and the processing normally takes up to 4 working days. If the child is endorsed on the passport of the visa applicant, and if he/she travels with the visa applicant, a photograph of this child must be attached to the application.
Visas will be valid from the date of issue and for the period requested by the applicant.   It is the responsibility of the applicant to apply for the visa on time and for the period required, since once the visa is issued it can not be changed to any other type of visa.  Parents can sign the visa application form in case children are minors.

Overstay i.e. stay beyond the period of validity of visa is a serious violation of visa rules and may result in denial of visa in future, apart from disciplinary action in India.

TYPES OF VISAS
Specific visas are granted for a variety of purposes. The principal types of visas issued are Tourist Visa, Business Visa, Employment visa, Entry visa and Student Visa. Please contact the Consular Section of this Embassy for further details if you are visiting India for purposes other than tourism, such as journalism, conferences, yoga, voluntary work, mountaineering or other expeditions. The visa application form is, however, the same though in some cases additional forms may be required to be filled.
